Boiling Springs
State Park, Oklahoma
Located near
Woodward
, just 3
miles off hi-way
412, this state park
is a surprise
retreat for those
venturing west and
is full of history.
Boiling
Springs State Park
has most of the
things that we would
associate with a
resort park:
swimming pool,
cabins, nice park
office, near by
Boiling Springs Golf
Course (not
owned by state),
fishing, group camp,
and gift shop, but
what makes the park
unique is the
"boiling springs".
The
springs can be
viewed by walking to
a shelter located
just behind the park
office. Although the
springs are not
"Hot", they do look
like boiling water
thanks to the water
flowing up from the
bottom and stirring
the sand. The
springs were the
foundation for the
park which was built
by the CCC way back
in the 1930's.
There
are several nice
trails in the park,
both hiking and
mountain biking.
Rv
Camping is in two
areas, Whitetail
with full hookups
and pull-thrus, and
Spring Hill with
semi modern hookups
and a little more
space.
The
Plains Indians &
Pioneers Museum is
close by the park in
Woodward, and also a
short distance from
Boling Springs is
Fort Supply Historic
Site. Don't let
the sign at the
entrance scare you,
it shares the same
ground as the
William Key
Correctional Center.
