Brushy Lake State
Park, Oklahoma
Located
near
Sallisaw, Brushy Lake
is a treasure
in the Cookson Hills
that would be
perfect for a family
reunion or
get-together.
We
really enjoyed
this little lake and
kids love the
playground area. The
park is almost
hidden so we had to
ask for directions,
once we found it
though it was well
worth the trip.
The
RV sites were level
and most were shaded
and situated like a
peninsula with
almost every site
having a great
location. A nice
walk-out fishing
dock is located close
to the campground
and it looked like
the fishermen were
having good luck
when we visited.
While
visiting Brushy Lake
area check out
Sequoya's Cabin,
this is a cannot
miss! Sequoyah
invented the
Cherokee
Alphabet and the
museum director is
extremely friendly
and can teach you
all about its
fascinating history.
Sallisaw
is home to
The Blue Ribbon
Downs Racino,
Oklahoma's oldest
horse racing
facility.
A
short trip to
Spiro, Oklahoma
is the
Spiro Mounds
Archaeological
Center one of
our states most
significant
historical finds.
