Crowder Lake State
Park, Oklahoma
Located
near Colony, Crowder
Lake State Park is
no longer a "State
Park", it is now run
by
Southwestern
Oklahoma State
university.
In
2003 the park
was renamed Crowder
Lake University
Park, but was still
park of the Oklahoma
State Park Guide
when we visited it.
Crowder
Lake University Park
is now a great
teaching tool for
SWOSU University and
currently there is a
rehabilitation plan
going on to
rehabilitate Crowder
Lake Dam. Other
activites and
programs are in
place to teach
students about
various skills
related to their
Department of Parks
and Recreatrion
Management
degree programs.
The
park has a
Rope Course, 5
shaded rv sites,
boating, an
interpretive trail,
and is designated as
a Trophy Bass Lake
by the Oklahoma
Department of
Wildlife.
Crowder is part of the
Great Plains Trail
of Oklahoma Caddo
Loop.
Note:
Park gates close
10:00 P.M. to 6:00
A.M.
Directions: From
I-40, take Exit 80
(Hwy 54) and go 7
miles S. At the
Crowder Lake sign
turn E and go 2
miles on paved road.
At the next
intersection turn S,
and go 1 mile. At
next intersection
turn W. The park is
approximately 3/4
mile
