Hugo Lake State
Park, Oklahoma
Located
near
Hugo in the
southeastern part of
Oklahoma, this park
is operated by
Little Dixie
Community Action
Agency.
The park has no RV
sites, but does have
very nice cabins and
a small tent area.
Corp
of Engineers RV
sites can be found
on Hugo Lake if
needed. The areas
available for RV use
on Hugo Lake are
Kiamichi Park
and
Virgil Point.
The
area is called an
outdoorsmen's
paradise by most
because of the
wealth of fishing
and hunting
opportunities around
the area. The Park
does have a small
marina, and is very
well maintained.
Near by are several
unique sites,
Fort Towson Historic
Site, Hugo
Heritage Railroad at
the Frisco Depot, and
the
Endangered Ark
Foundation.
Mount Olivet
Cemetery in Hugo is
famous as a
Showmen's Rest
with many circus
performers and Rodeo
cowboys
Lane Frost, and
Freckles Brown buried there.
Fun Fact: Hugo is
also known as Circus
City because it is
winter home to
Carson and Barnes,
Kelly Miller
and
Circus Chimera
traveling Circuses.
