Lake Wister State
Park, Oklahoma
Located
near the town of Wister,
Lake Wister State
Park is a family
activity park that
is fun for everyone
both young and old.
The park is situated
by the
Wister Wildlife
Management Area,
and near to the
Ouachita National
Forest so you
feel like you are
one with the
outdoors.
Kids
will love the
swimming beach,
nature center,
playgrounds, mini
golf, and
what makes Lake
Wister State Park
unique-a water
splash park to cool
off on a hot
afternoon.
Boating,
jet skiing, water
skiing, fishing, and
all the fun things
to do on the water
are very popular on
Lake Wister. If
getting wet isn't
your idea of fun,
hiking trails,
biking, mini
golf, volley ball,
and Cabins with a
nice cozy fireplace
are waiting for you.
Lone Star Nature
Trail is a very fun
hike.
RV
sites are nice and
lake views were
common, the park is
spread out along the
lake shore. Quarry
Island area is off
by itself on a
peninsula with 8
full hookup sites
and great lake side
views, sites like #1
(picture on left)
are absolutely
beautiful. Cabins
are also located on
Quarry Island.
Victor area is
located on a twisty
road about 4 miles
from the main park
area, the "north
side" area in Victor
has nice lake view
sites #22 & 23 are
nice and #45 has a
private door side
view. Ward RV area
is only open
Memorial Day-Labor
Day, the sites are
not paved, and it is
more or less an over
flow area. The Dam Area
has 8 sites and is
secluded, yet close
to the main highway
270 above.

and Museum
located in
Poteau,
Talimena Scenic
Drive, and
Heavener Runestone
State Park.
Each
August the Gar
Rodeo fishing
tournament is held
on Lake Wister.

Fun Fact: The Poteau
Rive which flows
into Lake Wister, is
the only river in
Oklahoma that flows
in a northerly
