Little Sahara State
Park, Oklahoma
Located near
Waynoka,
this park is an
off-roaders dream
come true right here
in Oklahoma. Little
Sahara State Park
has Sand Dunes
ranging from
"little" all the way
up to a towering 75
feet.
I
must admit this park
makes me want to go
out and buy a dune
buggy so I can play
in the sand and have
fun just like the
other "kids". The
cost is $7 to play
in the sand, but
everyone I talked to
said this was the
best park around to
ride ATV's, Dune
Buggies, and Dirt
Bikes!
Nice Riding
information is
available on
DuneGuide.com's
Website on Little
Sahara, and
The All Terrain
Vehicle Associations
Website.
There are several
places to gas up and
get food and drinks
in the area, and
most stores cater to
the ATV riders needs
so supplies etc. can
be found locally. An
new
ATV trail exists
from Little Sahara
into the town of
Waynoka if you
forgot something
while out riding.
The RV area in the
Main Part of the
park has nice RV
sites, and plenty of
room for trailers
and riders. The
Cowboy campground
area is also very
popular. Just
remember this park
is geared toward ATV
riding, both day &
night, and is not
recommended if you
want peace and
quiet.
Waynoka
has a
Rattlesnake Round Up
each April with a
"Den of Death", and
each November they
have
Fall Fest.
Nearby
is
Alabaster Caverns
State Park on
our Top Ten list,
and
Boiling Springs
State Park. Sand
Jam is also a yearly
event that is
popular with ATV
riders.
Northwest
Oklahoma is Red
Carpet Country and
their
website has
brochures and
information.
