Talimena State Park,
Oklahoma
Please call ahead
for ATV Trail
Status!!! Trail
closures have been
reported!!!
Located
near
Talihina Oklahoma,
in the
Ouachita National
Forest, Talimena
State Park is small
but absolutely
gorgeous. The park
is situated next to
the
Talimena Scenic
Drive in the
Winding Stair
Mountains and is
close to many
National Forest
activities.
During
the Fall when the
leaves are changing
is an ideal time to
visit Talimena and
to drive along the
Talimena Scenic
Drive. The scenic
national drive is 54
miles long and
follows highway 1
from Arkansas into
Oklahoma and has no
billboards or
advertising, it also
has many pullouts
for panoramic views
thought only
possible in places
like the Smokies.
Talimena
State Park does
allow ATV's and Dirt
Bikes as an access
point to the
National Forest.
If
you love hiking then
this area is a must
see, many
trails are
located in the area
as well as the long
Ouachita National
Recreation Trail.
Horse riding Trails
are found in the
area and
Equestrian Trails
like Horse thief
Springs offer
excellent riding.
RV
sites are very nice,
but there are not
many so call first
before heading to
the park. We also
recommend filling up
with gas and bringing
plenty of food and
other things needed
for you stay because
the park is located
in a sparse area.
