Tenkiller State
Park, Oklahoma
Located
on
Lake Tenkiller
close to Vian &
Gore, Oklahoma, the
park sign reads
"Heaven in the
Hills", and it is
one of our
favorites.
One
of the best things
about Lake Tenkiller
State Park, other
than the lake
itself, is Driftwood
Nature Center. The
park Naturalist is
super friendly and
there are so many
wonderful exhibits
and things to see
inside; be sure you
don't miss the Barred
Owl exhibit outside.
Checkout their
activities sheet for
educational things
like nature hikes,
eagle watches
(seasonal) and other
fun things to do
while in the park.
Each year the Nature
center hosts
Halloween haunting
with a spooky trail
that is a must see.
A
pond for the kids 16
and younger is also
available and is
stocked with trout
in the winter
months.
Lake
Tenkiller State Park
is also a
SCUBA Diving Park
and divers come from
miles around to
visit and explorer
the underwater
sights like a sunken
bus, boat and other
neat underwater
items .
Pine Cove Marina
has full services
and also
Clear Water Cafe
Restaurant.
RV
sites are nice and
we saw several
family reunions
taking place while
we were there.
Flying Squirrel, and
Fox Squirrel RV areas are
located as soon as
you get into the
park on the right
hand side and have
full hookups.
Shady Grove & Blue
Jay Knob RV areas
are nice, but a
little curvy to get
to, they are located
at the back of the
park. Blue Jay Knob
site # 136 , a
preferred site, is
the best site in the
park in my opinion,
view is nice from
the back, and the
door side view area
is totally secluded.
Goose neck bend
south is great for
tents, and fishing. Tenkiller
also has nice cabins
and cottages.
Tenkiller takes
reservations by
calling the park
office directly
for the Fox Squirrel
RV area.
